Parklife fined $109,000 for bad mom joke

UK music festival Parklife has been fined £70,000 ($109,000) for texting a grammatically incorrect, unfunny joke to its ticket buyers from their “mum.” Oops. [Noisey]

Kaskade Set to Bring Us “Raw Talent” on New Label Arkade

Delivered... Beatportal News Staff | Scene | Mon 8 Dec 2014 5:00 pm

Over the weekend, US house hero Kaskade set the tone for his new label, Arkade, with a typically impassioned post on Tumblr. As the DJ and producer wrote, “There is an abundance of raw talent out there, now more than ever. There is also a dire need for new talent to be brought to the forefront. Arkade is here to do that, to promote one-of-a-kind music.”

He goes on to say that the name itself is inspired from his childhood, hanging out at Dog Ear Records in his hometown. “It was a combination arcade and record shop; everything I needed under one roof,” he writes. “I would go after school and dig through the crates of vinyl and try to master the art of Galaga.”

As you may recall, this is the start of a new chapter for Kaskade, who has been without a label after parting ways with Ultra earlier in the year. Since September, he’s been making good on his promise of new music, with recent Arkade releases including his own progressive smash “A Little More” alongside Swedish house maestro John Dahlbäck (currently #7 on the Beatport Top 100 chart) and Fairchild’s deeper “I Just Want You” (sitting at #58). His 2014 edit of Galantis’ festival-rouser “Smile” is also nominated for a Grammy in the Best Remix category.

As the label boss puts it, Arkade is all about “one kind of music: music that I love.” To keep up with Kaskade and Arkade, you can visit its new website, as well as following all the developments on Facebook and Twitter. Here’s everything the label has released on Beatport so far, too.
